To remain innovative, UPMC needs highly engaged leaders and employees. UPMC administered surveys to all 80,000 employees across 20 different healthcare facilities and followed a three-step engagement approach. As a result, UPMC experienced increased employee engagement and participation, hitting an 80% engagement level, solidifying its employee engagement strategy as a best practice in and outside of healthcare.
